Mukesh Ghimire

Hi, I’m Mukesh Ghimire, an energy and climate professional and researcher from Nepal. I currently serve as a Director at the Government of Nepal, Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Alternative Energy Promotion Centre (AEPC). I am working as the Project Manager for the World Bank–supported Private Sector Led Minigrid Energy Access Project, while also leading the Planning and Monitoring Division and spearheading the development of new projects in energy, energy efficiency, and climate finance at AEPC.

With more than 16 years of managerial experience in Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency, and Climate Change, I have built a strong track record in strategic planning, policy formulation, and managing multi-donor–funded projects with measurable results. Over the years, I have worked closely with international partners such as the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, Green Climate Fund, FCDO, KfW, Global Green Growth Institute, among others.

I hold a Doctoral degree in Energy, Resource, and Environmental Policy from Korea University under the Korean Government Scholarship, along with three Master’s degrees in Renewable Energy Engineering, Business Administration, and Rural Development. I was honored with the Gold Medal by the Rt. Honourable President of Nepal and have published several research papers in international journals.
